Happy Halloween is held every October. On that day, teachers and students dress up in different costumes to pretend to be their favourite characters. Through participating in various stall games and making themed handcrafts, students can learn new English vocabulary and gain a better understanding of Western culture.

English Days usually last for two days. During the event, students take part in a school wide hunting game. Clues are placed around the school, and students have to find them and solve the related tasks or problems. Through this activity, students enjoy using English in an authentic and engaging way.

Students are divided into four groups to represent their houses in the competition. The representatives from each house answer different types of questions, including phonics, spelling and word guessing tasks. Apart from demonstrating their English knowledge, the competition also enables students to apply their problem solving skills and communication skills as they work together in teams to complete the challenges.

The NET teacher holds a regular thematic English game each year to enhance students’ English proficiency. Students are required to find answers from selected songs or videos, depending on the theme. This year, “TV Time!” will continue to be launched on Tuesdays. During the afternoon assembly, the NET teacher introduces target phrases and sentences, and students must locate the correct phrases or sentences from the video clips. These activities encourage students to apply English in authentic and engaging contexts.

The NET teacher and some English teachers bring groups of students on field trips every year to help them learn English in an authentic context and environment. Last year, twelve P.3 students participated in a Pizza Making Workshop organised by Mama Mia! Pizzeria. During the activity, students learned how to write a recipe in English and made their own pizzas using different ingredients. These experiences allow students to apply English in real life situations and develop greater confidence in using the language.

YouTubers is an extra curricular activity for P.3–P.6 students held after school. It is conducted in English and led by the NET teacher together with English teachers. Through joining the team, students learn various skills related to video shooting and editing from school teachers and invited professionals. Students also have multiple opportunities to collaborate with their peers and create their own video clips. Each year, participants join the Filmit Competition organised by the NET Section, where students work in groups to produce a one minute video clip for submission.
