Curriculum:
General English (Primary 1-6)
Five English classes are dedicated to the GE lessons per grade in P.1-P.6. English teachers adopt appropriate e-learning tools, such as Wordwall, Kahoot! and Quizizz in the lessons to help students acquire English knowledge and facilitate their learning. It is important to help students become a self-directed learner, and therefore we encourage students to check the meaning of the vocabulary and play the matching game on Wordwall before starting to learn a new chapter.
To build students' learning confidence and reduce their learning difficulties, tier-2 support is provided for less able students. This year, pull-out classes are provided for some P.4 students and co-teaching approach is adopted in P.4 English lessons. Besides, morning tutorial lessons are launched to help some P.2 and P.3 students strengthen their English foundations and improve their language skills.
For enhancing English teachers' professionalism, students' positive values and attitude, our school has applied the “Learning Hub @ The NET Section” which is offered by EDB this year. By receiving the support, we aim to integrate values education in the English lessons and activities in order to cultivate students' positive values and thoughts.
NET Scheme
PLPRW (Primary 1-3)
Three English classes per week are dedicated to the PLPRW programme per grade in P.1-P.3. It offers students an opportunity to integrate all language skills - with a focus on reading and writing - to make language learning comprehensive, consistent and fun. There are six units of work per year with related resources such as big books, small books and phonics books. Furthermore, e-learning resources have been developed to enhance student learning and allow for the continuation of learning in settings outside of school. Multiple teaching strategies are employed including shared reading, shared writing, and guided reading. Students have opportunities to work as a class, a group, in pairs, and individually. Levelled worksheet packages are used to consolidate learning and to accommodate different student abilities.
KEYS2 (Primary 4-6)
Three English classes per week are dedicated to the Keys2 programme per grade in P.4-P.6. This program aims to develop students' reading and writing skills progressively throughout Key Stage 2 by strengthening and building upon skills previously learned in Key Stage 1. It contains four units of work per year level. It exposes students to a variety of authentic texts and helps students improve their writing through the use of shared and process writing. Levelled worksheet packages are created to help students consolidate their learning and provide a place to organize their ideas for process writing. It also provides checklists for writing and self-assessment. E-learning options are provided for students to publish their writing and share it with whomever they please.
